DIRECTIONSThree worlds built, one shipped
Rather than one mockup to react to, the client saw three fully-built directions and chose. Ironwork shipped — industrial editorial, Archivo 800 and JetBrains Mono, full-bleed video hero, hairline grids. Blueprint (drafting precision, spec tables) stays intact in the repo as a live backup. Monograph was cut: warm, serif, image-led, and it read too soft for a builder.
SYSTEMOne attribute drives the whole design
Every palette, typeface, and type behaviour hangs off <html data-style> — weight, tracking, leading, and display ceiling included. The same display-xl utility renders as an 800-weight grotesque in one world and a condensed technical face in the other. No hardcoded hex exists outside those blocks.
EVIDENCENo invented figures, anywhere
Every number on the site is traceable to the client’s own published material. 2011 is the earliest Internet Archive capture, treated as a floor rather than a founding date. 120+ photos is 121 unique images counted after discarding Weebly’s duplicate renditions. 7 Houston areas are the neighborhoods named in his own gallery titles. Even the headline is derived from his 2011 tagline.
LOCAL SEOService areas tagged by scope, not stuffed
Eight client-supplied cities, each carrying a handful of real subdivisions — deliberately a handful. A wall of subdivision names is the doorway-page pattern search engines discount and humans read as stuffing. Each city is tagged build / remodel / addition / commercial, because acreage country and inside-the-Beltway are different businesses.
MOTIONFour animated graphics, re-themed
Split-flap board, odometer, gear schematic, and a rotating structural frame — ported from Forever Components (MIT) and re-pointed onto the design tokens so they inherit whichever world is active.
